Silicon Nitride Bonded Silicon Carbide Pipe Products
High thermal shock resistance, suitable for corrosive environments
Application
Primarily used in aluminum melting, refining, and low-pressure casting/rolling systems for aluminum alloys.
Description
Silicon carbide (SiC) and silicon nitride-bonded silicon carbide (Si₃N₄-SiC) are high-performance specialty ceramic materials widely used in extreme environments requiring high temperature resistance, corrosion resistance, and high wear resistance. By combining the high hardness of SiC with the toughness of Si₃N₄, the composite exhibits superior flexural strength and fracture toughness compared to pure SiC. While pure SiC offers higher hardness, it is more brittle; the incorporation of Si₃N₄ as a bonding phase enhances the material’s toughness, making it more suitable for applications involving mechanical impact.
